The Water
Bridgewater is located on Bath Creek a tributary of the Pamlico River. Bath Creek looks more like an inland lake than a creek or River.
The current is almost non existent and there is little to no tide. The Water is well protected from the winds and is generally very smooth.
The Depths average 7 to 12 feet and you are less than two miles to the Pamlico and the world beyond. Most mornings will greet you with a sheet of Glass as will most evenings.
The water is Brackish with approximately 10% Salinity. Enough to keep you more buoyant but not enough salt for undesirable sea creatures or all of the maintenance
associated with Saltwater Locales.
The Boating
The best of all worlds. Well protected water for Water Skiing, Wake Boarding, or Tubing but minutes from the Pamlico Sound. Face it, inland lakes can
get a little boring and the thought of letting your teenager loose on the ICW or the Ocean is a little nerve racking but letting your loved ones fish and explore
the creeks and channels will be very rewarding. You can hop on your boat and in less than 30 minutes you can tie off at the public docks in Little Washington for the
Restaurants and Night life, or enjoy a day boat ride to Belhaven, Oriental, or head to the Outer Banks to enjoy Ocracoke, or Hatteras. You could explore the Pamlico
Sound for years and never see all of it. Where do you find that kind of Variety in a small boat?
The Fishing
Depending on the time of year you can catch many fresh water fish and many salt water fish but sorry no sharks or barracuda. The fishing has some of the
widest variety that you can find. The NC fisheries web site shows 27 different kinds of fish for the Pamlico area. The local’s favorite is the speckled trout, red drum,
and flounder. You can troll, cast from your pier, or fly fish the endless creeks and inlets.
So if you would like to watch your children, your teens, your friends and relatives, (when invited) truly enjoy themselves take them to the water and
watch how much fun they have without Video games or a TV. The water invigorates us and brings us back to nature. There is a reason people buy a second home
it's because it changes who we are and what we do. When we get to the Water Our Stresses disappear and the fun begins.
